- Exploring new market opportunities
- Creating effective communication between people
- Becoming the Change Agent that makes a difference
Then you must be interested to become a facilitator of the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method
What is it?
LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® (LSP) is a facilitated method for creative thinking and problem-solving of real issues and challenges in real time. During a workshop participants are invited to build symbolic or metaphorical models of their insights with LEGO® bricks and then present these to other participants through storytelling.
When to use it?
The method is used in a wide ranging variety of organizational, team and personal challenges including strategy development, mergers, team development, market exploration and other demanding organizational change and renewal processes, like: Design Thinking, Exploring Business Models and Coaching.
A workshop using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology is an intense process to enhance innovation and business performance. It indicates that a learning process through LSP creates deeper meaning of understanding of the work done.
The training
We say it is a 4 ½ day training, but maybe it is more accurate to say that it’s a process-oriented course that draws on extensive research from the fields of business, organizational development, psychology and learning.
The 4 ½ day training (including one evening) is very intense and at the same time lots of fun … we call it ‘hard fun’. During days you experience and practice all 7 techniques of the method. That means you will gain insights on how to use the method on a individual level, group level and system level.
During the training you will receive a complete manual with insights, exercises and workshops.

The delivery
The results and impact of a workshop are directly tied to the quality of the facilitation. Therefore we aim with our LSP facilitator-training program to provide the facilitator with the insights, confidence and commitments necessary to prepare and facilitate the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY process in a way that gives maximum value and has lasting impact.
The facilitator certification program aims to train participants to:
- Experience and learn the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY methodology and its standard applications, called: Real Time Strategy for the Team, the Real Time Strategy for the Enterprise, the Real Time Strategy for You.
- Learn about and experience the theories underpinning the method.
- Gain the knowledge needed to effectively develop and facilitate workshops for clients.
- Practice designing and preparing customized applications of the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method.

Research and articles
The method is grounded on a set of well-known theories on how people learn, how organization develop and how to facilitate effective workshops. The popularity of the method grows and that fact goes hand in hand with the number of publications coming from research and experiences.

The Association of Master Trainers
Bricks and Business VOF is member of the Association of Master Trainers in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® Method. The Association provides facilitator training and certification in the LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® method.
The Association has two main purposes:
- To guard, maintain and further develop the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY method to ensure its integrity and high quality.
- To secure that its members deliver an uniform and high quality training of new LEGO® SERIOUS PLAY® facilitators regardless of language or geographical location.
A brief History of the method:
LEGO SERIOUS PLAY was first launched end of 2002. The idea to use LEGO bricks for business purposes saw its first light in 1995. In 1999 Robert Rasmussen got involved, which lead successfully to the development of version 1.0 of the LSP method. From 2002 both Robert and Per Kristiansen started executing version 1.0 by training facilitators. The method was brought to its next level, version 2.0 by Robert Rasmussen. This version is described in the book “Building a Better Business Using the LEGO SERIOUS PLAY Method” by Per Kristiansen and Robert Rasmussen (Wiley, 2014, New Jersey).
